About me, my journey, my art.

Hello friends, my name is Andrea and I am here to share my thoughts with you through my paintings. My journey hasn’t been the easiest and I want to inspire others to do what they love. Growing up in a very traditional and conservative Mexican family has shown me how important it is to find a medium of self expression. Growing up in Mexico I was always told that the key to happiness was to go to school, graduate, find a stable job, and get married. Let me break it to you easy… It wasn’t the life for me. I went to school and got a degree in public health thinking that I wanted to follow the footsteps of my parents and comparing their success to mine. Painting never seemed like an option for me. I was repeatedly by people “art isn’t going to pay the bills,” “painting is not a real job” and so many other thoughtless opinions. Ultimately, through my family, and people who surrounded me, seeing the everyday struggled I endured for months to let go of a life I thought I would have, and had pictured since I was 5 years old, and realize that what I wanted to do was paint and create something out of a blank canvas they realized that my passion was art and they have supported me every step of the way.

I created this portfolio for you. I want to inspire you to create your own path and follow your dreams. My series of “Modern Emotions” portraits was the first series of paintings that I felt symbolized who I was as an artists. I use bright bold colors to represent the auras of my subjects and the reflection of my feelings. My mind works in ways were I relate colors and shapes to personalities. These paintings are a lens to my world.
