This series was first created at a time in my life where everything felt simply unhinged. I was tired of trying to be perfect and draw within the lines and I wanted to feel like what was going to be on the canvas was out of my control in a way, and that it would not only be okay, but that it would look better! We need to let go and trust the process and have confidence in ourselves that even though at the time we might have no clue of what we are doing and we might think that we ruined everything, we didn’t. There’s a quote that I really like, “Some birds are not meant to be caged, that's all. Their feathers are too bright, their songs too sweet and wild. So you let them go, or when you open the cage to feed them they somehow fly out past you. And the part of you that knows it was wrong to imprison them in the first place rejoices, but still, the place where you live is that much more drab and empty for their departure.”
Stephen King, Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption
